Choose your Jeju City hotel base by the bus stop you can actually reach before a Hallasan summit hike. The airport side and bus-terminal area can both work, but the right choice depends on your confirmed departure, reserved trail and return plan.
Start with the stop you can actually reach
A useful base gets you to the right departure stop. VISITKOREA lists bus 181 from Jeju International Airport Gate 2 and bus 281 from Jeju Bus Terminal to Seongpanak Bus Stop. Both areas can work; the listing does not establish which hotel is faster.
When the terminal area makes sense
Look near Jeju Bus Terminal if its confirmed departure suits your start. An Agoda Jeju Donghae Hotel reviewer chose terminal-area lodging for Hallasan. An Agoda Charlie Hotel reviewer booked near the terminal for a Seongpanak bus. These individual, partly older or translated accounts cannot guarantee today’s service or hotel quality.

When the airport area makes sense
An airport-side stay may suit your arrival plans if you can reach Gate 2. Check the route from the exact hotel and the live departure before booking. The official listing gives no hotel walking times or fastest-area verdict.
Match your base to the trail you will finish
Visit Jeju says summit access requires advance reservation. It reports the Gwaneumsa Samgakbong–Baengnokdam section closed for rockfall-prevention work from August 1 through September 30, 2026; during that period, the summit is reachable only via Seongpanak. Recheck the park page and reservation system for later dates. If you finish at Gwaneumsa, arrange onward transport separately: the cited bus directions do not establish a return connection.

Make the booking decision
A Tripadvisor Hallasan reviewer reported taking bus 181 to Jeju Bus Station after a June 2025 hike. That personal report is no current service guarantee. Compare the hotel-to-stop route, confirmed buses, and your reserved trail before choosing either area.
Official route and park information checked on September 25, 2026. Hotel reviews are individual observations, not a guarantee of current services.
